New lottery ticket sales have been halted in Dubai after authorities discovered a security hole, the daily Dubai News reported.
The lottery ticket broker that sold the lottery tickets was hit with a security breach, and the company will now be temporarily suspended.
The security hole was discovered in the registration process for the new “Dubai Lottery Ticket”, which allows users to bet on the winners of games across the UAE.
Dubai’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that the security breach had been discovered and said the new tickets were not secure enough.
Dublin police are investigating the matter, the Dubai News said.
Dubai lottery sales resumed on Saturday, and a spokesperson for the lottery said that tickets would not be sold in the city until the problem was resolved.
“Dubai was a winner in 2016 and we will be offering lottery tickets to all our users in the UAE for the next five years,” a spokesperson said.
